Golf Courses

Palmeraie Golf Club

The original 18 holes at Palmeraie Golf Club were put together by Robert Trent Jones Sr. These nines (holes 1-9 - Jbilettes, 10-18 - Atlas) were added in 2008 with a further nine holes (19-27 - Tensift) designed by Stephane Talbot, who also contributed to the layout enjoyed just south of Marrakech at PalmGolf Marrakech Ourika. The newer nine is considered to be slightly more forgiving and perfect for anyone seeking a more leisurely golfing experience. One of the most impressive features of the Palmeraie is the striking contrast between the green landscape of the course and the snow-capped Atlas Mountains in the background. It's exhilarating to stroll the course in shorts with the majestic mountains looming in the distance.

Noria Golf Club

Noria Golf Club is a par-72, eighteen-hole championship golf course that measures 6,589 metres. The two par-36, nine-hole loops, which are very well balanced in terms of length and difficulty, wind through olive orchards, lavender fields and desert landscapes before making a dynamic, parallel finish along a formal reflecting pool with the snow-capped Atlas Mountains and a dramatic, beautiful clubhouse providing a stunning backdrop. From a golf course architectural perspective, Noria Golf Club is easily the most unique golf course that Hills & Forrest have ever designed. The concept of blending three different landscapes (orchards and lavender fields, the desert and a formal “oasis”) was challenging, yet provided the basis for a golf experience filled with wonderful variety for the player. Added to this basic framework were lots of interesting traditional Moroccan features ranging from reflecting pools, cascades and basins to architectural elements such as bell towers and observation structures to desert oued (wadi), khettara, seguia (irrigation channels) and even the namesake noria. The noria is a traditional Moroccan landscape feature and has been incorporated into the golf course design on the 15th hole, hence the name, Noria Golf Club.

    Shop the Souks

Marrakech is a shopper's paradise. The centre of the Medina is a giant maze of souks, aka market stalls. These stalls are overflowing with trinkets and treasures aplenty, from local handicrafts and art, to dubious designer knockoffs - and everything in-between. Some of the best products to pick up are homeware such as crockery and soft furnishings, spices, and argan oil. Haggling is the norm in the souks, so don't be put off if the initial price quoted is higher than you want to pay

    Visit the Jardin Majorelle

One of the most iconic things to do in Marrakech is a trip to Jardin Majorelle, the former home and gardens of legendary designer Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens were designed in the 1920s by French artist Jean Majorelle, and purchased by Saint Laurent in the 1980s to preserve the unique space. Rows of cacti and tropical plants converge around the striking electric blue Cubist villa, which houses the Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts. The complex also hosts the YSL Museum. The garden is open from 8:30am to 6pm daily. The Pierre Bergé Museum of Berber Arts is open from 8am to 5:30pm, and the YSL museum is open from 10am to 6pm.

    Visit Le Jardin Secret

Marrakech is home to another lesser known, but equally picturesque garden. Le Jardin Secret isn't quite a secret, but it does feel like a haven of peace away from the bustling alleyways of the souk. An elegant botanical garden, carefully tended plants species reside harmoniously against a backdrop of striking Moroccan architecture. The plot is split into two distinct gardens, the Islamic Garden and Exotic Garden, and has roots all the way back to the Saadian dynasty. There's also a cafe on site, though prices are steep by Marrakech standards. The garden is open from 09:30am - 6pm

Enjoy the sunset from a Rooftop Restaurant

If there's one thing Marrakech does well, it's rooftops. The city is full of great rooftop spots, from casual cafes to vibrant late-night restaurants and bars, all offering iconic views out over the city. One of the most iconic is Nomad, and a personal favourite is Rooftop Dardar. They tend to be on the pricier side (lets call it the view tax), but for a special meal or late night cocktails, it's worth it. Book in advance to guarantee a table, and aim for sunset to watch the sun set - and the party get started.

    Belly Dancing Show

Morocco is renowned for it's belly dancing shows, and Marrakech is one of the very best places to catch one. In fact, you'll find countless restaurants in the city put on nightly shows to accompany dinner. Upscale, legendary Marrakech spot Comptoir Darna is the most iconic - but expect prices to reflect it's fame. The shows often start from 21 - 21 - 22:00pm onwards

    Explore the Bahia Palace

The Bahia Palace is one of the masterpieces of Moroccan architecture. Bahia Palace meaning brilliance in Arabic is a must-see historical museum in the middle of the medina. With a surface of 8000 square meters and around 160 rooms, it was intended to be one of the most impressive palaces in Marrakech

Embark on A Hot-Air Balloon Ride

If you want to experience Marrakech from a unique perspective, then you have to book a hot-air balloon ride. As rides typically take place at sunrise, you’ll be able to witness incredible sunsets and also have 45 minutes to an hour, all while gliding high up in the air above the mesmerising Moroccan landscape.

    Discover Jemaa El-Fnaa

What mesmerized me the most about Marrakech – besides the mazes of the medina – was Jemaa el-Fnaa. Everything from dancing cobras, acrobats, monkeys, snakes, live music, pop-up outdoor restaurants and so much more are available. See how the locals provide entertainment for the tourists who are visiting. The stories are real and you will see the snake charmers charm their cobras in harmless ways. These charmers are thought to have protection from ‘Baraka,’ which is a type of divine magic and blessing rolled into one.

    Tour The Saadian Tombs

Located on the south of the side of the Kasbah Mosque, you’ll find the Saadian Tombs. These sepulchres and mausoleums are where the remains of important figures from the Saadi Dynasty were laid to rest.
