Golf Courses
Lopesan Meloneras Golf Club
Lopesan Meloneras Golf opened in 2006 and is located on the Costa Meloneras, close to exclusive hotels and shopping centers on the seafront. American architect Ron Kirby successfully exploited the rolling terrain and beautiful surroundings. Meloneras Golf offers two very different nines. The front nine is in an open valley and offers mountain views and parkland, while the back nine has stunning views of the sea and the nearby Pasito Blanco marina, as well as a few crossings of volcanic rock gorges. The first hole is an easy par 4, after which the course gradually becomes more difficult. The course, suitable for players of all levels, is generally in enjoyable condition and is definitely part of the Gran Canaria game programme.
- 18 holes golf course, Par 71, 5946m
- Clubhouse: changing rooms, locker room, valet service
- Pro-Shop
- Restaurant-Bar
- Driving range, putting green and chipping green
Maspalomas Golf Club
Maspalomas is one of the island's best established courses, having been opened in 1968 following design and construction by Mackenzie Ross. Measuring 6,189 yards from the back tees, this is not the longest course around, but it will certainly provide an interesting challenge to even the most skilled golfer. The course features expansive, flat fairways that meander through a picturesque landscape of palm trees and dunes, offering breathtaking views and a refreshing ocean breeze. With its strategic layout and large bunkers, Maspalomas Golf caters to players of all skill levels, making it an ideal spot for both seasoned golfers and newcomers alike.

Anfi Tauro Golf Club
Anfi Tauro Golf is located on the southwest coast of the island, 3 km from Puerto Rico and 20 km from Playa del Ingles. The world-renowned American architects von Hagge, Smelek and Baril designed the impressive Arizona-style desert course, completed in 2007. A unique complex in the rocky valley of Tauro with magnificent sea and mountain views offers a challenging, unforgettable golf experience. Lush vegetation, palm trees, cacti, lakes and white sand bunkers highlight the beauty of the course. The differences in altitude also add their own spice to the round and, for example, holes 13 and 14 of the back nine are absolutely stunning. Anfi Tauro is one of the best and most interesting courses in the Canary Islands. A golf cart is a must. There is also an excellent 9-hole par 3 course here with beautiful plantings, flowers, water and sand hazards.
- 18 holes Championship course, Par 72, 6325m
- Clubhouse
- Pro-Shop
- Restaurant-Bar
- Driving Range, putting green, chipping green, 9 holes par 3.
Salobre Golf Club: Old Course
Located approximately 10 km west of Playa del Ingles and Maspalomas, Salobre Golf Resort is a versatile complex comprising one 18-hole golf course (Old) and a 9 holes golf course (New) and a five-star hotel. The surrounding area is a rugged volcanic wilderness, to which the beautiful green courses provide a striking contrast with their magnificent sea, mountain and gorge landscapes. The interesting and varied terrain of the Old Course (“The Beauty”), opened in 2000, is located in a sheltered valley. It is easier, more spacious and longer than its sister course. Palm trees line the fairways and there are commendable differences in elevation. Due to the differences in elevation, the round includes several wonderfully elevated tees (including hole 8 – par 3, hole 10 – par 4 and hole 11 – par 3).

Visit Maspalomas
The main attraction here is the Maspalomas Dunes, a desert-like nature reserve featuring ponds, palm trees and 980 acres of sand. Start by visiting Las Dunas Interpretation Centre, located in the Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas, where you can learn all about the area and then take in the landscape from the nearby viewpoint. After that, follow the trail that crosses through the dunes and leads to Maspalomas Beach. Do not deviate from the path as this is a protected area with several native species, such as the Gran Canaria giant Lizard. Once you’ve reached the beach, you can continue along the coast to the Faro de Maspalomas on your right or the Playa del Inglés on the left.
Visit Puerto Mogán
The fishing village of Puerto de Mogán is one of the sunniest places on the island. It’s hard not to fall in love with this coastal town dotted with whitewashed houses, tropical gardens and canal bridges resembling Venice. Start with a swim at Playa de Mogán. Then get lost in the maze of narrow streets leading to charming squares or the viewpoint overlooking the sea.
Sunset at Playa Taurito
Playa Taurito is not interesting in itself. However, the cave that is located there makes it an ideal place to watch the sunset. To get there, just walk along the beach. Looking out over the ocean, the cave is at the very end, on the left.
Hiking Roque Nublo
Roque Nublo is also part of the UNESCO-designated area Risco Caido and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria, which includes volcanic rock formations, ancient cave dwellings and another important monolith, Roque Bentayga. This trail is 2.3 miles (3.75km) out and back, so a round trip will take around 90 minutes if you include some time to enjoy the view.
Hiking Los Azulejos de Veneguera
The Los Azulejos hike is one of the more unknown hiking trails on the island. But after completing it I strongly believe it’s one of the most beautiful hikes in Gran Canaria. Nestled in the heart of the island, near the village of Veneguera, this hike showcases an extraordinary display of naturally colored rock formations known as Los Azulejos, which translates to “The Tiles.”
Enjoy the local gastronomy
The most famous dish in Canarian cuisine is its famous wrinkled potatoes with mojo sauce. Mojo sauce can be red, with red pepper as the main ingredient, or green, with cilantro. Cheeses are produced in most municipalities of Gran Canaria: Guía, Moya, Gáldar, Valsequillo, San Mateo… cured and semi-cured, goat cheese, goat and sheep cheese, and goat, cow, and sheep cheese (a blend). Many of these cheeses have won international awards. You can buy good artisan cheeses at traditional markets. Since Gran Canaria is an island, fish and seafood are a must. You can easily find octopus, squid, sama, black sea bass, deep-sea fula, tuna, sardines, and the famous "vieja" (old lady) on restaurant menus. "Vieja" (old lady) is a parrotfish with a distinctive flavor very common in the islands' waters. As for meats, we can't forget pork ribs with corn on the cob, goat meat, pork, rabbit, etc. If you like sweets, you'll be interested in this part of Canarian cuisine. One of the desserts that has become popular in Gran Canaria is the Uruguayan polvito. It consists of dulce de leche, biscuits, cream, and topped with suspiros de Moya (meringue), a delight.
