Golf Courses

El Paraiso Golf Club

The course was opened in 1973. Designed by Gary Player. El Paraiso Golf Club is one of the most pleasant courses on the coast. It is located in a beautiful valley, where lush vegetation with palms and pine trees lines the wide fairways. Otherwise a flat course, only twice you climb a high hill. The course is owned by members, but visiting players are still welcome. Good layout, not many blind shots.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club: New Course

The course was opened in 1993. Designed by Paul Krings Although shorter than its sister course, it is more difficult due to its elevation and narrowness, and offers a real challenge for both beginners and experienced players. After an easy start, you move to the mountain slopes, from which beautiful views of the sea open up.

Atalaya Golf & Country Club: Old Course

The course was opened in 1968. Designed by Bernhard von Limburger. Of the two courses at Atalaya Golf & Country Club, the Old Course is the easier, although considerably longer. On this classic parkland course, the fairways are flat and wide and the placement of obstacles is clear. The fairways are lined with pine and eucalyptus trees. The greens are large and many of them are elevated. The course is also excellent for less experienced players. The club has good practice areas. Playable on foot, although there are some differences in altitude.

Villapadierna Golf: Flamingos Course

The first of three Villa Padierna Golf courses, Flamingos, located west of Marbella next to the luxury hotel Anantara Villa Padierna Palace, opened in 2001. Designed by Antonio Garcia Garrido. The course offers great views of the Mediterranean Sea. The Arroyo del Taraje river that flows through it and the large lake into which it flows affect the game on several fairways, in addition to two other lakes. The diverse vegetation has been carefully taken into account when designing an individual stamp for each hole. The greens are large and slightly undulating, the bunkers are filled with marble sand. The fairways on the front nine require more precision due to their narrowness. An interesting and challenging course is an experience for players of all levels. Some elevation changes and a few long transitions

Villapadierna Golf: Alferini Course

The course was opened in 2007. Designed by Cristóbal Guerrero. Villa Padierna's second course, Alferini, which has now been elevated to Villa Padierna's flagship, is one of the few par 73 courses on the Costa del Sol. The course is long and narrow, with numerous water hazards, narrow fairways and large greens. There are elevation changes and at times long transitions, so using a golf cart is worth seriously considering. In a natural, undeveloped environment with great views, you can experience privacy and silence. The awe-inspiring course is recommended for more experienced golfers or those looking for an exclusive experience

Los Naranjos Golf Club

The course opened in 1977. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. The course consists of two different nines. The first 9 holes are on a hilly terrain, with trees and water forming natural obstacles. The second 9 holes are on a flat terrain, with the fairways winding through orange trees (as the name suggests), but contrary to first impressions, there are also difficulties in the form of water hazards. The greens of the course are large, but well protected by bunkers. Quite a long course, but the fairways are wide. The layout is one of the best on the coast, you hardly have to hit blind shots. A course that can be easily played on foot.

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina: North Course

The course was opened in 1973. Designed by Folco Nardi. The North course is considered easier than its southern sister course, despite the fact that there are more elevation differences, water hazards and trees. The proximity of houses is disturbing in places. The course is shorter than the South course. Straight openings work better than long ones, there is water in play on several fairways. So there are some elevation differences, but playable on foot.

Real Club de Golf Guadalmina: South Course

The course opened as a 9-hole course in 1959 and was expanded to 18 holes in the 1960s. Designed by Javier Arana. Of the two courses in Guadalmina, South is the second oldest course in the area. During the course renovation at the beginning of the century, South was redesigned to be more challenging. There are many houses built around the courses, some of which are already starting to be too close to the fairways and are a bit disruptive to play in places. The fairways on South are relatively wide in places and slightly undulating. Rows of pine and other trees line the fairways. There are not many differences in elevation, making the course easy to play on foot.

La Quinta Golf & Country Club

The course was opened in 1989. Designed by Manuel Pinero and Antonio Garrido. Set in the beautiful Marbella Golf Valley, La Quinta Golf & Country Club consists of three nines: San Pedro (A), Ronda (B) and Guadaiza (C). These are played in various combinations. Although the fairways are not long and many of the tees are elevated, the course is technically quite challenging. The hilly terrain (especially on the B and C courses), trees, fairway and green bunkers, lakes, rivers and houses too close to some of the fairways require accuracy rather than distance from the shots. There are elevation differences and a few long transitions that is recommended the use of a buggy.

Los Arqueros Golf & Country Club

Santa Clara Golf Club

Santa Clara golf opened in 2001. Designed by Enrique Canales Busquets. A park-like course, flat except for a few holes. The mountains protect the course from the cold north wind in winter. Environmental issues have been taken into account on the course from the design stage onwards. Nature's own shapes were used when building the course. Fairways are quite wide and the greens are large. A fairly easy, pleasant course. However, there are enough water hazards to bring challenges to the game. Some of the fairways have great sea views.

Rio Real Golf Club

The course was opened in 1965. Designed by Javier Arana. The course is one of the oldest on the coast and the designer is considered one of the best in Spain. A very beautiful course near Marbella. A park-like course, with rows of palm and pine trees lining the fairways. The difficulty is mainly due to the length, even the yellow ones measure over 6000 meters. However, the fairways are quite wide and the balls are easy to find. The river, after which the course is named, is in play on a few fairways. A fairly flat course, easy to walk.

The Marbella Club Hotel Golf Resort is a world-class golf setting that exceeds all expectations. The 6,247-meter, par-73 golf course features meticulously landscaped fairways, beautiful waterfalls, and strategically placed bunkers. Its rolling greens are superbly protected. Use of a buggy is recommended.

Marbella Golf & Country Club

Marbella Golf and Country Club opened in 1988. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Senior. The initial holes are in quite mountainous terrain and many ravine crossings require bold and accurate opening shots. After the start, the course becomes flatter and more open. The variety of fairways lined with olive trees, numerous bunkers, dangerous water hazards and slopes on large greens require careful stroke planning. The course has a few long transitions. Great views of the Mediterranean Sea.

Cabopino Golf Club

The course and clubhouse offer exceptionally beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding mountains. The course, lined with pine trees, is short, but difficult due to elevation differences, narrow fairways in places, doglegs and water hazards. The course has three par threes, two par fives and the rest are par fours. A few longer transitions and more elevation differences on the front 9.

Santa Maria Golf & Country Club

Santa Maria Golf & Country Club opened as a 9-hole course in 1991, designed by Antonio García Garrido. The other 9 holes were opened in 1996 and were designed by the club's own technical staff. The rather mountainous course offers beautiful views of the sea and the oak-covered mountains. A few narrow fairways and ravine crossings provide a suitable level of difficulty. A few long transitions and occasional elevation changes. It's recommended the use of a buggy

Miraflores Golf Club

Miraflores was opened in 1990. Designed by Falco Nardi. The course has elevation changes, although it is not a real mountain course. Quite a short course, but you have to be careful on the openings, the fairways are quite narrow and there is a lot of water in play. A few dogleg fairways and blind shots. There are sometimes great views from the elevated tees.

Valle Romano Golf Club

The course opened in 2010. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson. The course in Estepona is clearly above average. Offering magnificent sea and mountain views, Valle Romano is quite challenging in terms of terrain. There are many elevation changes, the fairways alternate up and down. Impressive, different holes. The large sloping greens allow for many flag positions. The use of a buggy is an option well worth considering.

    Discover the Marbella's Old Town

Marbella Old Town is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring the Costa del Sol. Visitors can wander through its narrow, cobbled streets, which date back to the Moorish era, and explore significant sites such as the remains of the Marbella Castle and the picturesque Plaza de los Naranjos. Food lovers will be captivated by the local Andalusian cuisine available at the many tapas bars and restaurants scattered throughout the town. Shopping enthusiasts will also find plenty to enjoy, as the old town is home to a variety of unique, independent boutiques.

    Luxury shoppings at Puerto Banus

If you like to shop and like your designer brands then there aren’t many places that come close to Puerto Banus. Why? For the sheer concentration of designer boutiques in a relatively small area: Bond Street may have the designer staples in mega-boutiques, but Puerto Banus has a very heels-friendly, bite-sized offering.

    Visit Ronda

Ronda is renowned for its stunning historical sites. The iconic Puente Nuevo bridge, towering 120 meters above the El Tajo gorge, offers spectacular views and a glimpse into the town’s architectural brilliance. Don’t miss the Plaza de Toros, one of Spain’s oldest bullrings, which offers a deep dive into the cultural significance of bullfighting in the region. Surrounded by rolling hills and dramatic cliffs, Ronda is a paradise for nature lovers. The Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, located nearby, is perfect for hiking and wildlife spotting. Explore the lush landscapes, rare wildlife, and enjoy the serenity of Andalusia’s countryside. Ronda is steeped in cultural richness. Visit the Arab Baths, dating back to the 13th century, to experience the remnants of Moorish influence. The town’s museums, including the Mondragón Palace, showcase fascinating exhibits that span from archaeological finds to modern art. Indulge in the flavors of Andalusia by sampling local cuisine. From tapas bars to fine dining, Ronda offers a culinary journey that tantalizes the taste buds. Don’t forget to try local specialties like oxtail stew and those delectable churros with a mug of thick chocolate!

    Wine tasting in Ronda

There are 18 vineyards in the area each producing small quantities of excellent wines with the D.O. Sierras de Malaga, category Serranía de Ronda. One of the first to open its gates to the public was Chinchilla (Bodega Doña Felisa). Explore Dona Felisa Winery's vineyard, offering breathtaking views and a unique winemaking experience. You learn about traditional manual grape harvesting, selection, and the winemaking process at the winery and enjoy an exclusive wine tasting paired with fresh, local dishes for a perfect experience.

    Visit Setenil de las Bodegas

Setenil de las Bodegas, the most unique of all the white villages of Andalusia in Spain. This beautiful town is nestled deep within a canyon, surrounded by fields of olive trees. However, its most impressive feature is the huge rocks that overhang the pretty white houses. Wander among the narrow streets, where you’ll find houses emerging from boulders and delicious cave restaurants. Enjoy all the top things to do in Setenil de las Bodegas—a must-see stop on any Andalusia road trip!

    Hiking the Caminito del Rey

This almost 8-kilometre path near Malaga (Andalusia) was once considered one of the most dangerous in the world. Today the entire route has been carefully restored, but although it's now much safer, one thing hasn't changed - the unique experience of strolling along walkways hanging over 100 metres up on a sheer cliff face. The views are unforgettable. The Caminito del Rey route is spectacular from beginning to end, running through cliffs, canyons, and a large valley. It crosses the landscapes of Desfiladero de los Gaitanes, a gorge carved out by the river Guadalhorce, with walls 700 metres high. The area is also inhabited by a wide variety of plant and animal species; with a little luck, you can see highland birds like Egyptian vultures, griffon vultures, or golden eagles, and mammals such as wild boar and Iberian ibex.

    Visit Malaga

The curious thing about Málaga is that all of its signature monuments are in an area known as the Historic Centre. The churches, convents and palaces holding a tremendous cultural and artistic value are on this group of mostly pedestrian streets with a Moorish air. Taking a walk around this area is pleasant with an atmosphere full of outdoor seating at bars and restaurants becoming the star of the show. The famous Calle Larios is the primary pedestrian thoroughfare for the old town as most of the other streets end here. It also serves as the nexus for the neighbourhood’s social activity along with being a point of reference for business and commercial activity. You can find the city’s most renowned, fashionable clothing and home goods shops, making it a perfect place or a morning of shopping and leisure. In August, the old town’s streets are awash with colours, music and Andalusian folklore as the city comes together to celebrate the famous Málaga Fair or Feria de Málaga.

    Visit Mijas

Mijas Pueblo is one of the most popular places to visit on the coast. The beautiful white mountain village is located 430 meters above sea level. The village is full of small artisan shops and restaurants. Ceramics and leather products in particular are on sale. The village is set in a rich atmosphere with flowerbeds in colorful pots. Just wandering through the narrow, whitewashed alleys is a memorable experience. The city center is not large and can be easily explored on foot. However, it is worth noting that there are many elevation changes and hills, and stairs can make it difficult to get around. The views from the village's viewpoints are stunning. On a clear day, you can see as far as the coast of Africa. The best views open up from the Parque la Muralla park area bordering Mijas Pueblo. At the same time, you can explore the magnificent garden that blooms all year round. Mijas Pueblo is the administrative center of the municipality, with the town hall and most of the history of the area is concentrated here. Donkey taxis were previously considered one of the village's major attractions.

    Visit Estepona

Estepona is a charming coastal town on the Costa del Sol, known for its beautiful beaches, vibrant old town, and rich cultural scene. Visitors can explore the historic center, relax on the beaches, enjoy water sports, or experience the local cuisine. Estepona's old town is a must-visit, with its narrow, winding streets, whitewashed houses adorned with colorful flower pots, and charming plazas. You can wander through the streets, discover hidden corners, and soak in the Andalusian atmosphere.
